Sau "In the zone" (2003), Brit trở lại với "Blackout" (2007). Đĩa đơn "Piece of me" được đầu tư tới 500,000$ đánh dấu sự trở lại của Britney khi nhận được đánh giá rất cao từ các chuyên gia. 4 tuần liên tiếp trấn thủ ngôi vị quán quân MTV Asia, Top 10 Châu Âu và nằm Top 20 trên Billboard 100. Tại giải MTV Video Music Awards 2008, Brit chiến thắng cả 3 hạng mục được đề cử :"Best Female Video", "Best Pop Video" và giải quan trọng nhất là "Video of the Year" cho "Piece of Me". Đây cũng là lần đầu tiên cô giành được chiếc cúp moonman sau 16 lần được đề cử.

Mới đây, với "Womanizer" (19-10-2008) Brit đã tiếp tục đạt được thành công vang dội, từ #96 nhảy vọt lên vị trí số #1 trong bảng xếp hạng Billboard Hot 100.

Britney Spears đã tiêu thụ được 31 triệu album tại Mỹ và là một trong những nghệ sĩ bán được nhiều đĩa nhất thế giới. Hiện tại cô đang chuẩn bị phát hành album thứ 6 mang tên Circus vào ngày 2 tháng 12.
